The Russian icebreaker Kapitan Dranitsyn was built in Finland in 1980, and upgraded in 1999. The Kapitan Dranitsyn is virtually identical to her sister ship, the famous Kapitan Khlebnikov.

Except for the short summer period the icebreaker leads oil tankers and cargo carriers through the heavy Arctic ice. Kapitan Dranitsyn is a powerful icebreaker designed for working the conditions of the Arctic region and the Baltic Sea.
