Davis Strait - Named for the English explorer John Davis, who explored the area while seeking a Northwest Passage.
Denmark Strait - During WWII, German battleship Bismarck sank the British battlecruiser HMS Hood in the strait.
Ilulissat, Greenland - Greenlandic for "the icebergs," it is the third largest settlement in Greenland.
Iqaluit - First recognized as a city in 2001, Iqaluit hosted the finance meeting as part of the 2010 G7 summit
Monumental Island - Named by Arctic explorer Charles Francis Hall as a tribute to the memory of Sir John Franklin.
Pangnirtung - Nicknamed Pang, it has achieved international repute for high-quality art, printmaking and weaving.
Reykjavik, Iceland - Site of first lasting settlement in Iceland, it’s known for clean air and a high standard of living.
Sisimiut - Greenland's northernmost year-round ice-free port has been a settlement site for around 4,500 years.
Tasiilaq - Also known as Ammassalik, it is the most populous community in eastern Greenland.
Uummannaaq - Uummannaq is Greenlandic for "heart-shaped," the form of the giant mountain that overlooks the town.
