North Pole
Very good - we'll be recommending you to our friends!"The shore landings on the scenic and serene islands of Franz Josef Land were the most exciting components of the voyage. I felt like a real explorer, stepping foot on land that I knew few people have, or will ever have the opportunity to walk on. "
How did the Expedition Team contribute to your enjoyment of the voyage?
"The Expedition Team were friendly and passionate and this was demonstrated by their consistent effort to engage, educate and entertain the passengers. "
Please share with us your most memorable wildlife encounter.
"My most memorable wildlife encounter was observing two polar bear cubs snacking on a seal they had freshly killed, while they barely flinched in the presence of the icebreaker. "
Please tell us what you consider the most exciting aspect of traveling on a ship built for polar cruising.
"The opportunities to explore islands via helicopter or zodiac, or simply observe sights from the vast space on various decks. "
What story from your Quark voyage do you most often share with others?
"Most frequently, I share with others my encouters with some of the very interesting and somewhat eccentric passengers. However, I always interject with my experience in seeing polar bears hunting for food within meters from the icebreaker. "

North Pole
Excellent - the trip of a lifetime!"The highlight was arrival at the North Pole and the moving circle formed around the vertical "flag" by the ships passengers"

Overall an enjoyable vacation"Beyond the wildlife[polar bears, walrus, seals, etc.], this is a yachtman's dream. Imagine cruising at 13 knots while breaking ice that is 3-5 feet thick with full access to the bridge and a friendly Captain who tries his best to converse in english with you. A magnificent ship that takes you on an unusual voyage to a place that only few get to visit-it does not get better than this!! While it carries the usual dinghy/Zodiac complement, the twin-engine MI-8 helicopter used for disembarkations/tours is the cherry-on-top!!!!"
