"The whole trip form start (delayed with an overnight in Oslo due to extreme fog!)to finish. The small-ish size of the ship and all the people onboard. Neatless to say the highlight was my bermuda shorts worn for the BBQ on deck in less than tropical conditions!"

"The sea-kayaking was a most brilliant addition to the trip. We had beluga whales dive under the canoes, spotted a polar bear meandering along the shore that we were kayaking and got to immerse ourselves (almost literally!) in the stillness and wonder of the arctic waters."

"I am most attracted to the Arctic landscape - the vastness of it, the glacial valleys, the glaciers. On the voyage you are simply immersed in it all. For me it was a continuing thrill to be there. I'm ready for more, even though this was my sixth expedition to the Arctic, plus two to Antarctica and two to the Chilean fjords (seven of the voyages with Quark).."

    Approaching Longyearbyen

"A highlight of my trip was being part of a vast landscape. Imagine the exhilaration of sitting on a rock, surrounded by towering mountains, tundra and patches of snow at your feet, no sound but the wind - and at the same moment realizing how vulnerable you are."
