Western Ellesmere Island Expedition

(August 3 - 18, 2010) Cruise the western shore of Ellesmere Island accompanied by Alastair Fothergill, Executive Director of Frozen Planet, the sequal to Planet Earth. This 16-day End of an Era expedition includes landings on Devon and Beechey Islands. This is like no other vacation, with aerial sightseeing and tundra hikes across a landscape that can only be reached by sea or air. Tanquary Fjord is a one-of-a-kind Arctic adventure.

Baffin Island, Canada - The fifth largest island in the world, it may be ‘Helluland’ from the Saga of Erik the Red.
Coburg Island, Canada - Characterized by cliffs and rocky shores, bowhead whale, narwhal and polar bear frequent the area.
Devon Island, Canada - Earth’s largest uninhabited island, it supports a scant number of muskoxen, small birds and mammals.
Greenland - Meaning "Land of the People," the world’s largest (non-continent) island is a part of Denmark.
Lancaster Sound - Named by explorer William Baffin in 1616, it forms the eastern portion of the Northwest Passage.
