As our Operations Manager, Jake is primarily tasked with staffing Quark’s skilled expedition team and managing the equipment on our vessels. He first joined Quark as part of the expedition team and was immediately captivated by the beautiful landscapes, rich wildlife and adventurous working conditions. His in-field experience combined with his keen interest in expedition logistics landed him a position in Quark’s Toronto office…though he’s always happy (and fortunate) to return to the field and join our expedition team for a couple voyages each year.
What advice do you have for the first-time passenger?
Sea days are so much more than transit time between landings; put in your time on the bridge, outer decks, in lectures and presentations or chatting with staff and fellow explorers – it’s great fun – and before you know it you’ll be stepping foot on Antarctica…or South Georgia…or Greenland…or Spitsbergen…or the North Pole! Heck, is one voyage really enough?
