Vice President, Logistics
Petr is our VP, Logistics, and Quark’s defacto head of Russian relations. Petr has intimate knowledge of the expedition industry and expedition vessels. He liaises closely with our ship owners and spends much time navigating the political waters involved in operating in the Arctic and Antarctica.
He graduated from the Far Eastern Marine Academy in 1970 and began his employ with the Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO), in Vladivostok, Russia. By the mid 80’s, Petr was Chief Mate aboard the Arctic icebreaker Ermak and was then promoted to Captain of Icebreakers for FESCO, serving until 1991 aboard Erofey Khabarov, Moskva and Admiral Makarov in the position of Master.
He was first introduced to Quark Expeditions when he was Master of the FESCO icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov (1992 to 2004), and the ship came under charter hire by Quark. He has many memorable voyages and “Quark Firsts,” including two circumnavigations of Antarctica, one being the first ever passenger voyage in 1996.
