We continued north to the Beagle Channel in Tierra del Fuego, where a pod of Peale’s Dolphins greeted the ship, and from there on it was a leisurely journey back to Ushuaia.

We disembarked around 8:00 am, and approximately 22 hours later, we were back in D.C. We have barely had enough time to sit back and reflect about all that we experienced and saw. This trip gave us a chance to see a part of the world that is still relatively undisturbed by man. It gave us a greater appreciation for the wildlife and environment of the Antarctic. Antarctica is a place to be cherished and respected, and we hope that international laws continue to protect it. Visiting Antarctica was a truly remarkable, and the memories will last a lifetime (we’re already thinking about joining an expedition to the Arctic!).

Thanks for following us along on this journey. We hope that you will get a chance to visit this incredible continent. On our next to last day at sea, the expedition team created a DVD compilation of photos submitted from passengers. We’re including some of our favorites from the group, as well as some of our own, to share with you. Enjoy!
