Day 5 started early again and just like the last landing we had a long hike up a big hill.  We weren't disappointed because we saw so many penguins...not just penguins but baby chick penguins as well!  So cute!  At the top of the hill was a wide flat spot that was like an Antarctic beach!

Oh...I forgot to mention it was 6 degrees celcius!  We hung out at the top of the hill for a while and it was cool listening to the ice crack like thunder and watch avalanches fall into the ocean.  There were mountains on all sides of us.  We walked and slid down the hill to the beach to watch more penguins and some fur seals.  The amazing thing about this place is that the penguins make the same walk up the hill that we did every day...even on their tiny legs with their awkward walk! The name of this place was Danko Island but it could have been called Stanko island because of the smell...still it was very cool!

In the afternoon we went to Almirante Brown Station where we were able to watch penguins again.  We watched one penguin chick call for the parent for a while until they met up and watched the adult penguin feed the baby chick by throwing up into its beak!  The funniest thing happened when the adult ran out of food.  The chick kept bugging its mom or dad until the parent had to run into the ocean.  The chick chased it squawking the whole way!  To see them both running in their crazy way made me laugh!  Soon we left the station for a zodiac cruise where I saw a bunch of seals including a leapord seal!  We also saw a whole bunch of amazing iceburgs and glaciers!

On the way to our anchor point we saw  5 whales; a mother humpback and her baby and three minke whales.  I was so pumped...I was excited to see whales from the start!  The day ended by drinking a sprite with ice form a 40,000 year old glacier...now that's refreshing!

Hard to believe but tomorrow sounds even more exciting!

Later
