Harish is a talented photographer. Hilda is his patient photography assistant, keeping on eye on his camera bags and equipment when he is composing his shots. [The plural is appropropriate - when Harish travels he carries multiple cameras.]
Imagine my excitement this morning, when I opened my email to find the lovely photo to the right. I remember vividly the day we saw these Emperors. We were in the Weddell Sea, keeping our fingers crossed that the weather would hold so we could fly to the colony. These birds were about 20 miles from the Snow Hill colony en route to the open water to fish and feed. Their curiosity got the better of them - or perhaps they are aware of their beauty and pose for photographs willingly.
Thanks Harish for sharing!
