As a tourist destination that is. The Arctic island is experiencing the effects of global warming. A 100 square mile (260 square kilometer) chunk of glacier broke off the island's ice cap in 2010.
Greenland will host an Arctic Council meeting in May 2011. The international council is expected to announce the launch of a new study. The goal? To help Russia, Denmark, Canada, Norway, and other Arctic nations cope with what appears to be irreversible climate change.
Kapitan Khlebnikov is going to Greenland in August for 21 days. The Semi-circumnavigation is the last time the icebreaker will fly her helicopters to the sparkling glaciers and magnificent fjords of the world's largest island.
