Khlebnikov left Stanley, Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) for the last time today. She will never return as Quark's flagship expedition vessel. The End of an Era in Antarctica is drawing to a close. The icebreaker returns to Antarctica for her final voyage through the Ross Sea and her penultimate Antarctic expedition in 2011. The farewell voyage is Antarctica's Far East - which will begin exactly a year from today.
The Ross Sea is sold out. Antarctica's Far East is nearly so. I've had more enquiries than I can count from people who want to be on that last bittersweet voyage. I give them the same advice each time. If you want to be able to say you were there when she sailed those last nautical miles, book now. Dont' wait. Do not delay.
