Let's begin at the end.

I'm already finding it hard to sleep as I mark off the days until my Antarctic trip begins. So this morning I was online early researching the wine country of Chile. Emperors and Kings ends in Santiago, Chile. Quark has recently begun selling trip extensions, so I decided to spend a few extra days in Chile visiting wine country.

I found a fabulous 25 minute video online produced by the LCBO. The entity is the largest retailer of wines and spirits in the world. The video was filmed in Chile's wine country, and includes interviews with Chilean wine makers. Most significantly, the video explains how Antarctica impacts Chilean viniculture. How perfect is that. I'm going to end my expedition in a region of the world that makes wine influenced by the cold Humboldt Current, a undersea river of Antarctic water that flows up the coast of Chile.
