Schooner en route to Antarctica to chart Climate Change

By prisca.campbell

A French schooner has completed one year of a three-year, global scientific expedition to study the effects of climate change. Specificially they are researching the effect of climate change on micro-organisms that are significantly involved in the production of oxygen.

An Experienced Polar Sailing Ship

Tara set sail from Cape Town, en route to Argentina, then on to Antarctica. The schooner has sailed in polar waters before, spending 507 days in the Arctic when she was known as Antarctica. If you are on one of our expeditions to the Peninsula in December or January you may sight the 36-metre (118-foot) schooner sampling the waters.
