Upgrade your Airport Wait - Pay-in Lounges
By prisca.campbell
I flew to Ushuaia via Miami last November. My layover was nearly 8 hours. I was pleased to learn of a special - one day membership to the American Lounge. Cost me $50 for the access, but it included a beverage and snacks and Internet access. And the chairs were more comfortable! So I was thrilled to learn about Plaza Premium - a company that provides premium lounge service for a pay-as-you go fee.
There are two price levels - one for the really frequent flyer and one for the infrequent flyer like me. The fees are called annual memberships. I would pay USD$199 for 10 visits in a 12 month period. That's a whole lot cheaper than my $50 access deal, as long as I fly 5 times through airports where the service is available. According to their advertising, lounge amenities include - complimentary bar servce, specialty coffees, food and beverage service including hot entres, and the essential business services - Internet and Wi-Fi.
Premium Plaza has announced they have added Toronto (5 lounges) and Vancouver (2 lounges). So if you are joining Arctic Passage or Northeast Passage you might want to check the service out.
