Miami Vice

By Blog.Admin

No pink sports jackets with rolled up sleeves. Nor is there a carrot topped, sunglass sporting detective with a propensity for tilting his head when he speaks. I"m just passing through Miami en route to Buenos Aires. My vice is ice - Big Ice. By the time I arrive in Ushuaia in the late evening of Friday 13th, I'll have been on the road for 36 hours. Does it always have to be that way? No...I could have done it in under 30 hours.

Stanley is a Wildlife Paradise

By Blog.Admin

10 March 2009 We’ve had smooth sailing and fine weather for the remainder of our voyage. Yesterday afternoon we arrived in Stanley Harbour, East Falkland. Most of us headed out of town for an hour or two to Gypsy Cove to see the moulting Magellanic Penguins and the gorgeous white sand beaches and turqoise waters. The days are getting shorter quickly. The golden hour for photographers in the Beagle Channel is now closer to 7 or 8 pm compared to 10 or 11 pm in mid January. We were treated to some vibrant rainbows and gorgeous scenery on our way out to sea. We knew it would not

Back in Ushuaia

By Blog.Admin

3 February 2009 We arrived back into Ushuaia slightly ahead of schedule. Everyone was ecstatic about spending a little less time than expected in the clutches of the open ocean. It is always a little unusual seeing trees again after spending time amongst the peaks and glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula. The trees at the mouth of the Beagle Channel have a distinct lean. Strong winds scour the landscape. It is a fairly desolate picture, but beautiful in its own right. On the way down the channel, Chile is on the port or western side of the channel and Argentina is on the starboard or ea
