Laurie is an intrepid traveler who has toured, volunteered and worked in locations all around the globe. By the age of 27, she had visited all 7 continents, and while each journey offered many rewards, she’s found that none can match the majestic qualities of the Polar Regions.
She joined Quark Expeditions with a university background in international development (which she credits for her keen interest in the Antarctic Treaty and the related politics of the region), as well as extensive logistics and operational management experience gained working as a program coordinator for a tall-ship sail-training organization based out of Toronto, Canada, her home port.
During the off-season, you’ll likely find her on the waters of Lake Simcoe, Ontario, where she spends her days with family and friends at the cottage. Her long list of hobbies (likely to fall in line with the phrase “jack of all trades, but master of none”) includes snowboarding, wakeboarding, sailing, kayaking, volleyball, photography and spending much of her downtime with a good book in hand.
