Also known as Scotty Mack, Scott is a wilderness guide, outdoor educator and musician. He holds a master in environmental studies from York University, a bachelor of education in outdoor and experiential education from Queen’s University, and a BA from Dalhousie University. His most recent research explores human-nature relationships, ecological identity and how indigenous technology mediates the experience of a place. He has worked as a sea kayak guide for over 12 years in Canada, from Newfoundland to British Columbia, as well as with Quark Expeditions, from the Arctic to the Antarctic. After spending over a decade working as a sea kayak guide for commercial outfitters, Outward Bound Canada and adjudicated wilderness programs for youth, Scott started his own sea kayaking company, Cape LaHave Adventures, in his homeland of coastal Nova Scotia. When he isn’t paddling and guiding on the open ocean, you might find him playing some tunes with his band, More Please!
