Day 1 — Ushuaia, Argentina

This quaint city at the southernmost tip of South America is your gateway to Antarctica.

Day 2 — Embarkation Day

You will embark in the afternoon, with a journey through the picturesque Beagle Channel.

Days 3 to 4 — Crossing the Drake Passage

Legendary for its high winds and rolling seas, you may get lucky and have surprisingly calm seas. Spend your time in the lounge or chatting with your fellow travelers.

Days 5 to 7 — Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands

Icebergs are the first attractions that welcome you to Antarctica. Massive floating bergs become more common as you get closer to land and you catch your first glimpse of the Peninsula, with its grand snow-covered mountains.

Day 8 — Disembarkation and Fly to Punta Arenas

As the ship turns north, you’ll say goodbye to the penguins, as well as many of your shipmates.

Day 9 — Depart for Home

Take a five-hour flight from Santiago to Easter Island, one of the world’s most remote inhabited islands. A single massive (extinct) volcano rising over 10,000 feet from the Pacific Ocean floor, Easter Island is famous for its enormous statues carved from the tough stone of the Rano Raraku, the island’s volcano. Your package includes tours of the statues, tombs and volcanoes of the island. This luxurious package offers guests three nights’ accommodation at Explora Rapa Nui, where all meals, daily explorations and drinks are included.

Onboard Lectures

Presentations by Quark’s Expedition Team are included as part of your voyage. Through formal illustrated presentations, as well as informal briefings, the Quark Expeditions Team will cover a range of topics including ornithology, marine biology, glaciology, geography, geology, history and the environment.

Safety First

Life Boat Drill

By international maritime law, you must participate in an emergency drill within 24 hours of sailing. Upon embarkation, you will be asked to locate your life vest in your cabin and remember your life boat and muster station. This mandatory drill will be scheduled as soon as possible by the Expedition Leader. You will be provided with full details after you embark.

Our ships has been stocked with the world’s largest floating library of polar book and DVD’s.  The collection includes books in multiple languages covering subjects like wildlife, history, marine biology, ecology and geology. Our DVDs include a selection of documentaries series, polar-themed films, and popular titles.
