Extending Your Adventure in Norway
There are two places to extend your stay in Norway: Oslo, for travelers en route to Longyearbyen, Svalbard, and Longyearbyen for travelers embarking and disembarking in Longyearbyen, Svalbard.
All flights to Longyearbyen depart from Oslo, Norway’s capital city. So we encourage you to recover from a transatlantic flight by spending a few nights under the midnight sun. We offer you a choice of extended stays.
Oslo Highlights
You’ll explore the main streets and squares, passing the New Opera House, the Parliament and the National Theatre. You’ll see the Royal Residence and spend time in Vigeland Park, an open air sculpture garden. At the Viking Ship and FRAM Museum, you’ll have time to tour the Oseberg ship, an extraordinary archeological find.

Oslo and Bergen
You ride the scenic Bergen Railway. Your seats are first class, as is the sightseeing en route. The Bergen Railway was voted one of the 20 best railway experiences in the world.
Your journey to Bergen is broken by a rail excursion on the Flam Railway, a 20 km long ride from the mountain station of Myrdal to Flam, situated on the edge of a fjord. The 55 minute journey is through some of Norway’s most magnificent countryside.
After visiting the Flam Railway Museum, you board a boat to sail down one of the most narrow fjords in Europe – Naeroyfjord, designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. At Gudvangen, you disembark and board a motor coach for a hair-raising ascent up the steep bends of Stalheimsleiva. At Voss you board the Bergen Railway for the final leg of the journey to Bergen.
