In December 2012, Quark became the first (and only) expedition cruise company in the world to complete a third party health and safety assessment. Quark successfully demonstrated conformity to the highly respected British Standard BS 8848, in an evaluation undertaken by the Young Explorers’ Trust, an independent third party assessor. Some of those aspects evaluated related to passenger safety and comfort, including Quark's expedition leader team and their experience, training and skills, our expedition staff to passenger ratio, emergency procedures, and Quark’s onboard environmental practices.
Quark Expeditions has been successfully evaluated by a third party for our compliance with BS 8848 “Specification for the provision of visits, fieldwork, expeditions and adventurous activities outside the United Kingdom”
