Berna Urtubey

Berna has joined these expeditions:

What skills do you bring to the job?

"People skills, knowledge and enthusiasm."

What keeps you coming back season after season?

"Love of the environment and the people I meet."

If you could time travel, which historic expedition would you join?

"I would live to have been part of Jean Baptiste Charcot's luxurious expedition aboard the Pourquoi-Pas as a biologist. I believe the discoveries mixed with the lifestyle they took down to Antarctica made this trip an incredible one. No men killed or injured. They overwintered at Petermann's Circumcision's Bay. Any expedition of the heroic age fo Antarctic exploration would be my choice."

"In the Arctic  - 1903 Amundsen's expedition to be the first person to successfully traverse Canada's Northwest Passage between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans onbard the seal hunting vessel, Gjoa. This passage - nowadays - is very important."

Berna's advice for Polar Travelers

"Read as much as you can about the wildlife, the frist explorers and the first inhabitants of the land. There is a lot of new information about climate chage in both regions to discuss. Read as much as you can about the places you will visit."
