Tony looks forward is looking forward to helping make every Quark traveler's trip to the polar regions an enriching and life-changing experience. This New Zealander first worked in Antarctica in 1998 as a group leader.
What skills do you bring to the job?
"Despited being designated as ornithologist, and one of the naturalists on board, we all pitch in and do whatever may help - however menial or meaningful, as part of the Expedition and Hotel Team. This cooperation is to ensure that we provide an outstanding experience for the people who have chosen Quark as their entry into some of the most superb places on the planet."
What keeps you coming back season after season?
"Living for a substantial part of the year in these extraordinary places, with the people we sail with and the people we work with."
If you could time travel which historic expedition would you join?
"To be honest, while I greatly enjoy learning about the incredible deeds of the remarkable people who were part of the exploration of the polar regions, and would love to be have had an opportunity to meet them, I am constanly thankful that we are able to enjoy these same places in such comfort and safety!"
Tony's advice for Polar Travelers
"Go for as long as you can for the richest experience. Prepare for your journey by reading and learning in advance. And take time for yourselves - not just for your camera - once there."
