Geoff Carpentier
In addition to being an expert birder, Geoff is an author, having written "Antarctica - First Journey."
What skills do you bring to the job?
"Public speaking, interpretation, tact and organizational skills."
What keeps you returning season after season?
"I love working with and teaching people about wildlife. I love the way wildlife trusts us and how we can share their lives if only briefly."
If you could time travel, which historic expedition would you join, and why?
"I think I like the various Shackleton expeditions. But I am certainly wary of the trials and ordeals they face. That said, he did so much to raise awareness of Antarctica that I would love to have followed his footsteps for awhile."
Geoff's advice for Polar Travelers
"Be prepared and expect the unexpected. Take a moment to sit quietly with nature."
