Member of the Expeditions Team
For the past 22 years Jim has been watching British Columbia’s Southern Resident Killer Whales as a captain and marine biologist in the Victoria whale watching industry. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree, Biology, at the University of Victoria. While at UVIC Jim discovered scuba diving and worked with Department of Fisheries and Oceans as a marine invertebrate biologist and climate chemist.
He also spent 5 years as a relief lighthouse keeper giving him the opportunity to explore and experience the rugged beauty of Canada’s west coast. When he’s not working on the water he’s playing on the water. Jim is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing, scuba diving, photography and seeing what’s around the next bend! His passion for travel and wildlife has led him on adventures spanning the globe. He’s looking forward to expanding his polar experiences with Quark Expeditions.
