About Dave Merron

Photography Guide
You may also see David in the following role(s): Expedition Guide and Expedition Coordinator

David is a professional photographer and drone pilot who pursues nature as his favored subject, and finds the greatest challenge is capturing wildlife in a way that makes you pause longer than an 'Insta-moment’.

Guiding for Quark since 2013, David still keeps coming back for more. David has explored the northern hemisphere coasts of the Canadian Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, Svalbard Archipelago, and, most recently, the remote Russian archipelago of Severnaya Zemlya by a 48ft (15m) sailboat. Annually chasing the nearly perpetual polar summer light to the southern hemisphere, photographic Antarctica always rewards with outstanding icebergs, jaw-dropping landscapes and wonderful wildlife – a dream office!

Globally publishing his images from pole-to-pole keeps David on his toes. He partnered with Quark ornithologist, Fabrice Genevois, for his most recent collaboration, a book titled ‘Antarctic Penguins: A Visual Journey’, which is available onboard in Antarctic waters.

When not guiding for Quark, David can be found with his wife and two kids living in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada.
