Amy was born and raised in Ushuaia, Argentina, and has spent most of her life outdoors, hiking, horseback riding, climbing and enjoying nature. With a background in tourism and environmental management, she worked for several years as a guide in Tierra del Fuego. In 2008, she joined Quark Expeditions, handling ground operations in Ushuaia during the Antarctic season and assisting clients on their way to Antarctica and back home.
In 2016, Amy spent 1 ½ months completing a training program in northeast Greenland with Quark. This will be her second season in the Arctic, and she is very excited to explore the wonders that Svalbard has to offer.
What is one of your favorite memories of the polar regions?
One of my favorite memories is a night landing we did in northeast Greenland, where we experienced a 1-hour show of amazing northern lights and stars, viewed and photographed on land. It was truly a magical moment.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned from traveling?
Be flexible, especially with expedition travel. It’s the key to enjoying the best experiences.
