About Chris Howell
Hailing from the northeast of England, Chris loves to explore. After graduating university with a degree in broadcasting, he set off to backpack around the world, kick-starting stints living in 7 different countries. He has called Toronto, Canada, home for 6 years and is on the cusp of acquiring his third passport.
Not content with regular “holidays,” Chris loves to throw a good adventure into the mix and has completed a few end-to-end challenges: cycling the length of Great Britain solo (from John O’Groats to Land’s End) and walking the length of Ireland (from Malin Head to Mizen Head) while raising money for charitable causes. He thinks the best way to see a place is to plant your feet on the ground and explore.
Chris has been working in the tourism industry on and off for 12 years, starting as an overseas customer service rep in Spain and Greece. Most recently, he was the sales manager and then tour leader manager for a student travel company, where he frequently led groups to New York, London, Chicago, Quebec and Niagara Falls.
When he’s away from the smoke, hustle and bustle of the big city, Chris’s favorite pastime is camping in Algonquin Park and Tobermory, in his home province of Ontario, spending time with nature, wildlife and in peaceful serenity. That’s also why Chris is super-excited about exploring Antarctica: being face to face with fauna is the perfect distraction from today’s smartphone culture. Plus, he has been to 6 of the 7 continents, and Antarctica will be lucky No. 7!
