About Juan Miramon Melgar

Expedition Guide

Growing up in a small town in southern Spain, Juan learned to enjoy nature and the outdoors from an early age. His insatiable curiosity about the world took him away at age 17, and since then he has never stopped exploring.

After studying tourism and hospitality management, he completed a Master’s in International Development, with the aim of promoting travel with a focus on environmental awareness and cultural sustainability. This approach has allowed Juan to take part in a wide variety of tourism projects, including vocational training in Nepal, community-based programs with Quechua people in the Andean Highlands, guiding treks and volcano climbs in the Atacama Desert and Easter Island, and managing a kayak company on the west coast of Greenland.

In his free time, Juan can usually be found skiing, rock climbing or mountaineering. When he is looking to relax, he may be reading books about eastern philosophy, writing on his personal blog, or backpacking with friends with his camera in hand.

Since 2017, Juan has been enchanted by the wilderness of Antarctica and the Arctic. He has been working as a guest services representative and guide. He believes it is a privilege to combine his ideas, passion, and work while sharing experiences of a lifetime with Quark guests.
