Becs feels privileged to explore and paddle in the remote Polar Regions of the Arctic as a Quark Expeditions® Kayak Guide.
An Outdoor Educator from New Zealand, she has a passion for adventure, and helping others discover and develop. She has a strong interest in the Polar Regions, kayaking and adventures and has spent many years leading and instructing groups in a variety of outdoor activities, such as kayaking, hiking and rock climbing. One of the companies where Becs has spent time working is Outward Bound in New Zealand. She is currently an outdoor education tutor at Tai Poutini Polytechnic in, Greymouth, New Zealand. Training soon-to-be outdoor instructors in a variety of pursuits and outdoor skills. She is also a registered nurse, dairy farmer and wilderness first aid tutor.
Becs enjoys trail running and has been a regular competitor in many mountain runs and ultramarathons in New Zealand, including a long run that spanned the length (1,367 miles/2,200 km) of the island nation. When Becs isn’t kayaking in polar areas, leading groups in the New Zealand outdoors or milking cows, she and her dog, Bess, can be found running in the hills, paddling local rivers or working on her land in Hokitika, on New Zealand’s west coast.
