Joining Quark Expeditions’ expedition team in 2010, I spent the better part of that year guiding in Antarctica, South Georgia, Svalbard and Greenland. In 2011, I put my BBA in Operations Management to work as part of the Operations team in the Toronto office, where I have since held various responsibilities. My time is now focused on managing the expedition gear across the fleet and the logistics of transporting cargo to locations across the globe, organizing set-ups and pack-ups of the ships, communicating with vessel managers regarding technical requirements and crew, and working with the Operations team to provide support to our expedition teams in the field. Having participated in over 30 expeditions to the Polar Regions, I enjoy returning to the field every year to reclaim my status as an expedition team member. Outside of traveling, my hobbies include sailing, flying small planes, cross-country skiing, cooking and kiteboarding.
What is one of your favorite memories of the polar regions?
Experiencing Inuit culture while visiting Baffin Island in Canada’s Far North.
What advice would you give someone traveling to the polar regions?
Sea days are one of the best parts of the expedition, so be sure to put in your time on the outer decks and on the bridge, with your binoculars ready to go!
