Into the Northwest Passage, but no further

We give a lot of credit to the expedition staff, especially our leader Alli. She made the best of the situation when we had to turn back after reaching Devon Island. We had expected to see the well-known Franklin site on Beechey Island and to proceed further into the famous passage. The ice would not allow it.

My Trip of a Lifetime With Quark Expeditions

Thank-you for my trip of a lifetime!
From the excellence of the guides to both enthuse and inform, to the top rate staff who kept us happy and well fed (the food was delicious - I loved the pastries!), the expedition was superior.
The expedition was expertly organised and any change in circumstances such as weather or ice that required a change of plans, was dealt with smoothly and turned into a new adventure.
My experience was magical!

Arctic Cruise

Although we were stopped by ice from reaching Beechy Island and planned disembarkation at Resolute, it was still a great trip. Personal highlights: getting on to the ice on Lancaster Sound where the ship had to turn around. Stunning scenery in Sam Ford fjord. After dinner zodiac cruise in Powells Inlet - Devon Island for close up view of beluga whales, very good views of walrus and mom polar bear with 2 cubs. The Inuit show at Pond Inlet.
Excellent food and variety.
