Your COVID-19 vaccination record document must show that you have been vaccinated with a vaccine which is authorized and approved by Centers of Disease Control (CDC), or World Health Organization (WHO).

Your COVID-19 vaccination record document must show that you have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days before Day 1 of your expedition. This means that you must have completed the full cycle of required doses for the vaccine administered (e.g., received the second dose in a two-dose series).
You will find a new vaccination requirement document has been added to your Polar Forms which will need to completed to confirm you and your fellow travelers (if applicable) will be required to be immunized against COVID-19. In addition to this, you will need to bring to the ship a copy of your vaccination record document. We are aware that digital vaccination certificates are in development. As the standards for such certificates emerge, we will endeavour to amend our documentation requirements accordingly, but at this time it is a printed copy of the vaccination record that will be required to be presented to Quark Expeditions representatives.
In order to obtain a 100% vaccinated ship all passengers, including children, must be vaccinated to join their expedition. With vaccine technology constantly evolving, new avenues to vaccinate minors may become available before your departure commences. We ask that you monitor the situation in your country of residence and if you find your child will not be vaccinated in time for your expedition please reach out to us to review your options.
Yes – in order to obtain 100% vaccinated ships all passengers must be vaccinated to join their expedition. As COVID-19 is a constantly evolving situation our medical advisors will evaluate any scientific changes and if it is determined our policy on vaccinations needs to be amended, we will advise our guests of these changes. In the event our policy has not changed 40 days prior to your expedition please reach out to us to review your options.
Quark will also require that staff and crew be vaccinated. Unforeseen circumstances and / or regulations may require us to allow for limited exceptions. In the case of any exceptions affected staff and crew members will be tested via PCR testing and will be subject to further testing and monitoring while aboard.
At this point in time the vaccination policy is in effect for all voyages in all available seasons. As COVID-19 is a constantly evolving situation our medical advisors will evaluate any scientific changes and if it is determined our policy on vaccinations needs to be amended.
Pre Departure - Antarctic 2021/22 Voyages
Yes, a negative PCR test result, where the sample was taken within 72 hours of travelling is a requirement of the Argentinean authorities to join your flight. The Quark Expeditions requirement is that on Day 1 of your expedition you can present to Quark Expeditions ground staff a copy of your negative PCR test results taken within 72 hours of day 1 of your expedition. For example, if your Day 1 is on Nov 25, 2021, then you must have a PCR test taken no earlier than Nov 22, 2021. If you are arriving into Argentina on Day 1 of your voyage you should be able to use the same PCR test for both the Argentinean and Quark Expeditions requirements.
In the event you are arriving early into Argentina you may need to do a test within Argentina so you have a test result within 72 hours of day 1 of your departure. Both Ezezia International (EZE) and Aeroparque -Jorge Newberry (AEP) airports in Buenos Aires will have testing centers that offer walk-in testing services.
Guests arriving in Buenos Aires should schedule their flight to arrive before 10am on Day One of the expedition.
Please ensure you purchase a travel insurance policy that includes coverage for COVID related health issues, quarantines, and trip cancellation & interruption. Purchasing comparable coverage through another insurance provider or your preferred booking agent is also acceptable.
If you are denied travel or boarding due to a positive COVID test result, Quark’s “Book with Confidence” program will provide for a 100% Future Travel Refund Credit (FTRC) that can be used up to 3 years to rebook onto another Quark Expeditions voyage.
On Arrival in Argentina
No. Argentine regulations do not require guests to quarantine upon arrival.
Guests are required to complete a PCR test on Day 1 (the day prior to embarkation) and our testing team will be available from 10am to 4pm in both Buenos Aires and Ushuaia. The priority of all travellers on Day One arriving into Buenos Aires should be to report to Hotel Emperador immediately and be available for your COVID screening. Guests forgoing the transfer package and arriving in Ushuaia should proceed to Hotel Albatros.
- Quark requires that all guests are fully vaccinated within 14 days prior to arrival by a vaccine approved by the CDC. Proof of vaccination will need to be presented to Quark Expeditions staff on Day 1 of your program. This needs to be a printed copy of the COVID-19 vaccination record from your governments health authority showing you have received a completed cycle of doses. Mixed vaccines will be accepted as long as they are from the approved list and your vaccine document shows you have received all doses required.

Aboard our Vessels
Even though all guests staff and crew will be 100% vaccinated, we require guests to wear masks when social distancing cannot be maintained. Guests are also responsible for providing their own PPE, but masks and sanitizer will be provided and available throughout the ship.
Meal services should operate as usual, except that our buffets will now be served by attendants so guests won’t have to handle shared utensils.
Under recently released rules from Argentina, when symptoms are reported to the ship’s doctor they must be treated as a suspected COVID case. In that case a guest would be tested immediately, if the result is negative then the guest would isolate for 24 hours, then a second test would be conducted and if it comes back negative then the isolation would be ended. For any guest who receives a positive COVID test result then they and their travelling companion would have to begin a 14 day quarantine – which could extend to a land based quarantine after disembarking from the ship.
Departing Your Expedition
Yes. Quark will be providing a COVID Antigen test certified for onward travel conducted within 2 days of disembarkation. Guests will be responsible for knowing their onward travel regulations of their airlines or respective country entry requirements.
In this case we would recommend you allow sufficient time in Buenos Aires to administer a PCR test and recieve the results. Both Ezezia International (EZE) and Aeroparque -Jorge Newberry (AEP) airports in Buenos Aires will have testing centers that offer walk-in testing services. You may wish to add a post night in Buenos Aires to ensure you have sufficient time to obtain your test result before travelling internationally.
