About Damon Stapinsky
Damon grew up in Canada, in rural southwestern Ontario, to be exact, a region renowned as a beautiful union of farmland and nature. With the freedom of such a world at his doorstep, he acquired the fundamentals of hard work and adventure at a very young age and spent his youth exploring the land, water and wildlife around him, excelling in anything to do with the outdoors.
After spending his teenage years lifeguarding, sailing, canoeing and doing any nature-related activities he could find, Damon spent his 20s enjoying canoe tripping and whitewater kayaking in Ontario’s north, dogsled guiding in the winters, and being a sawyer for eco-friendly homes. That passion compelled him to go back to school to earn an outdoor adventure diploma at Algonquin College in eastern Ontario. Upon completing his education, Damon moved to Quadra Island, British Columbia, a hidden oasis on Canada’s West Coast, to pursue a career as a sea kayak guide. For the past decade, he has spent his days exploring the Pacific Northwest by kayak and motor boat, with his beautiful wife and 2 loyal hounds. In summer, he runs an adventure company that he co-owns, providing multi-day kayak trips in and around the Discovery Islands, Desolation Sound and Johnstone Strait.
With a lifetime of experience on the water and discovering new places, Damon is excited to explore the Antarctic with Quark Expeditions guests and crew as he continues this great adventure called life.
