About Tom Coney
Mountain Safety Guide
Tom grew up on the south coast of the UK climbing, mountain biking, surfing, and sailing spending most of his youth outdoors. After graduating from university with an engineering degree he moved to the French alps in 2005 to pursue his love of the mountains. Here he progressed his skiing to become an ISIA ski instructor and discovered mountaineering and ski mountaineering to push his adventures further in the untracked and unclimbed.
Looking back, he knew nothing of what adventures lay ahead.
His love of travel and exploration has taken him all over the world. Exploring new terrain in India, Alaska, Sierra Nevada, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Arctic Norway, and locally in the European Alps.
He is now living in Chamonix, France and is a qualified IFMGA/UIAGM International High Mountain Guide. Working as a mountain guide, he can travel the globe sharing his passion for nature and the outdoors with the people he works with.
In Chamonix, Tom is engulfed by liveliness and inspiration. He is constantly surrounded by a collective of colorful characters of climbers, alpinists, mountain bikers and skiers.
To explore his creative side, he has a passion for renovating his 18th century farmhouse and has a love for food and photography.
