As we venture to some of the most remote regions of the world – and our guests often travel great distances to join our expeditions – we are pleased to offer passengers the protection and peace of mind provided through Trip Mate’s Travel Protection Plan.
Plan With Confidence
The Travel Protection Plan, offered by Quark Expeditions and administered by Trip Mate, a Generali Global Assistance & Insurance Services brand, provides additional peace of mind by covering certain unforeseen circumstances that may arise before or during a trip.
Trip Interruption or Cancellation
If a trip is interrupted or canceled due to a
medical emergency, adverse weather, natural disaster issue or another covered reason in the plan, you may be reimbursed.
Baggage & Personal Items
Coverage for baggage or personal items (such as passports or visas) that are lost, damaged or stolen during a trip may be reimbursed up to the plan limits.
Additionally, you may be reimbursed for certain incurred expenses should baggage be delayed for 24 hours or more during the trip.
Medical & Dental and Emergency Assistance & Transportation
Emergency medical or dental expenses during a trip may be covered, including costs of circumstances that may arise from an illness or injury, including COVID-19. Also, medically related transportation expenses due to a life-threatening situation may be covered.
Travel Delay
Helps reimburse you for reasonable expenses incurred when you are delayed for 12 consecutive hours or more while on your trip, due to one of the Unforeseen events listed in your plan. We will not pay benefits for expenses incurred after travel becomes possible.
Cancel For Any Reason
If a trip is canceled for any reason, other than the covered reasons listed in the plan, you may be eligible to receive up to 75% of the penalty amount for your trip. Additional terms, conditions, and requirements apply. Not available for residents of NY.

Explanation of Terms
*Not available to residents of NY.
TRIP CANCELLATION – Helps reimburse you for the forfeited, prepaid, non-refundable payments you paid for your unused trip if you are prevented from taking your trip due to any of the Unforeseen Covered Events listed in the Plan. The covered event must occur before you depart on your trip and while your coverage is in effect under this Plan.
*OPTIONAL TRIP CANCELLATION FOR ANY REASON – If you purchase this optional coverage, we will reimburse you up to the amount shown in the schedule for trip cancellation for any reason covered expenses when you cancel your trip for any reason. Requirements may vary depending on the state where you reside. Not available to residents of NY.
TRIP INTERRUPTION – Helps reimburse you for the forfeited, prepaid, non-refundable payments for your unused land or water arrangements and your additional transportation expenses to your scheduled destination if your departure is delayed, to rejoin your trip in progress from the point where you interrupted, or to the return destination due to an unforeseen covered event listed in your plan.
TRAVEL DELAY – Helps reimburse you for reasonable expenses incurred when you are delayed for 12 consecutive hours or more while on your trip, due to one of the Unforeseen events listed in your plan. We will not pay benefits for expenses incurred after travel becomes possible.
MISSED CONNECTION – Helps reimburse you for the forfeited, prepaid nonrefundable Payments that you paid for the unused travel arrangements, plus the additional transportation expenses incurred by you to join the departed trip, if you miss a connection or Departure while on your trip and are delayed for the amount of time specified in your state specific plan documents because of your common carrier.
MEDICAL AND DENTAL – Helps reimburse you for medical covered expenses incurred by you resulting from a sickness that first manifests itself or an injury that occurs while on your trip and the initial documented treatment is given by a physician of dentist during this trip; and benefits payable as a result of incurred covered expenses will only be paid after benefits have been paid under any other valid and collectible health insurance is effect for you. This coverage is in excess of any other health insurance you have available to you at the time of the loss.
EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE AND TRANSPORTATION – Helps reimburse you for transportation expenses resulting from a sickness that first manifests itself or an injury that occurs while on your trip. Covered Expenses such as medical evacuation, medical repatriation including transport and medical care en route to a hospital or to your home, if medically necessary.
ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT – TRAVEL ACCIDENT – Helps provide coverage if you are injured in an accident, which occurs while you are on your trip, and you suffer the loss of life, one or both hands, one or both feet, and/or sight in one or both eyes within 365 days of the accident.
BAGGAGE – Helps reimburse you when your baggage or personal belongings are damaged, lost, stolen or destroyed during your trip.
BAGGAGE DELAY – Helps reimburse you for the purchase of necessary clothing and toiletry Items purchased by you if your baggage is delayed by a common carrier for 24 consecutive hours or more during your trip.

The Travel Protection can be purchased up until 1 day prior to departure. The Trip Cancellation For Any Reason benefit must be purchased within 21 days of the date your initial payment is received.
In addition, the exclusion for Pre-Existing Conditions will be waived provided the plan is purchased within 21 days of your initial trip payment. Requirements vary by state so be sure to review your state specific Plan documents.
Yes, flights and additional hotel nights can be added under Travel Protection coverage. You would need to provide the total dollar value of the additional travel components, as well as the dates.
You can upgrade your Trip Mate Travel Protection plan at time of booking flights and/or hotels (premium will increase in cost). Please contact the Quark Expeditions Client Experience team.
Travel Protection Plans includes the travel insurance premium and assistance service fee. Travel Protection Plans are administered by Trip Mate, a Generali Global Assistance & Insurance Services brand, located in San Diego, CA.
