Alison loves the world of polar adventures. Born in Australia, she grew up in various cities throughout the country and fondly remembers her first big adventure; travelling around Australia with her family for six months at the age of nine. Her love of travel intensified further when she was fortunate enough to experience her first around the world trip at the age of 12. These early life experiences shaped her perspective of the importance of family and the privilege of travel. She revels in the opportunity to combine her passion for the outdoors and conservation with Quark's guests.
Ali's professional career in Australia provided further opportunities for travel and devel- oped her skills in leadership, management, communications and logistics. She has studied In- ternational Relations at a post graduate level and speaks Mandarin. She is an avid skier, SCUBA diver, bike rider and runner who enjoys spending time exploring the outdoors with her husband, nieces and nephews. When not in the polar regions, Ali volunteers on the executive board of the not-for-profit organisation, Multiple Sclerosis Limited. Ali would like to improve her Mandarin skills by spending more time in China and further her International Politics education in the dynamic area of Australian/Sino relations.
