Tansy has worked as a guide and doctor supporting expeditions in many diverse and remote environments across the world. Her overseas work includes supporting high-altitude expeditions to Nepal, China, India, Morocco, and Tanzania. She has a particular interest in the polar regions, beginning when she agreed to serve as ship’s doctor and crew on a small sailing yacht to explore the world’s longest fjord system, Scoresbysund, in East Greenland. Since then, as a commercially endorsed skipper, she has sailed to Svalbard, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands and looks forward to returning soon to the Arctic to support the youth development charity Polar Academy on a winter sledge-hauling expedition across East Greenland.
Originally from Cambridge in the UK, she moved to New Zealand six years ago, rode the length of the country on her mountain bike, and has since never left. She strongly believes in the value of outdoor exploration for physical and mental well-being and enjoys nothing more than supporting others in taking part in expeditions to explore our world’s beautiful remote environments.
