Expedition Guide | Biologist – Zoologist | Marine Biology Presenter
Sharing experiences in Antarctica and inspiring a love for nature has always been Fede’s dream.
Fede grew up surrounded by wild animals — his backyard was, in fact, the Buenos Aires Zoo. His father, the zoo’s director, is a veterinarian specializing in wildlife and is now one of the most respected bird experts in Argentina. He taught Fede everything he needed to know about animal behavior, and it was only natural that Fede followed this passion, studying Biology with a focus on Zoology at the University of La Plata in Argentina.
In 2007, Fede moved to Patagonia, where he began his PhD studies on forest owls and worked as a biology teacher at several high schools.
His first trip to Antarctica in 2008 changed everything. Working for the Argentine Antarctic Institute, he took part in three Antarctic campaigns as a member of the scientific staff at the Orcadas, Primavera, and Carlini stations — Argentine Antarctic bases — developing capture techniques for Antarctic seals and monitoring seabird colonies.
Although he had found paradise, there was still something unexpected ahead. In 2013, he began guiding on expedition ships, traveling from the Arctic to Antarctica. It became a natural continuation of his path: sharing what he loves, not as something separate from nature, but as part of it.
