Arctic Passage Route Map

Arctic Passage Interactive Map
Anadyr, Russia - The easternmost town in Russia and an important sea port for the Bering Sea.
Baffin Bay - Sea connecting Atlantic and Arctic oceans, choked most of the year with large numbers of icebergs.
Anchorage, Alaska, USA - Unlike other towns in Alaska, this grew from neither fishing nor mining, but railroad construction.
Baffin Island, Canada - The fifth largest island in the world, it may be ‘Helluland’ from the Saga of Erik the Red.
Beechey Island, Canada - Site of three graves of Franklin's men, who likely died from lead poisoning from tins of provisions.
Bering Strait - It’s speculated that humans walked from Asia to North America across a land bridge in the strait.
Chukotka Peninsula, Russia - The northeastern edge of Asia, where mining, hunting, trapping, reindeer and fishing are industries.
Devon Island, Canada - Earth’s largest uninhabited island, it supports a scant number of muskoxen, small birds and mammals.
Ilulissat, Greenland - Greenlandic for "the icebergs," it is the third largest settlement in Greenland.
North Pole, 90 Degrees North - Located in the middle of the ocean amidst shifting sea ice, from here all directions point south.
Kangerlussuaq, Greenland - Located at the head of a long fjord, the area is home to many muskoxen, caribou and gyrfalcons.

Reviews for this expedition

High Arctic Explorer

The highlights of this trip for me were the barren, stark, amazing vistas of the High Arctic and the ingenuity and resilience of the Inuit people. I was also in awe of being on Beechey Island.

Northwest Passage

In as much as I was totally new to the experience, I found it very exciting, exhilerating, & most interesting to visit the top of the world. Seeing the ice, walking on the tundra, going where so few have gone before all added to the enjoyment.
