Learn about our “Celebrating Shackleton” Voyage with explorer Tim Jarvis

In 2013, Australian explorer, environmentalist and author Tim Jarvis recreated Shackleton’s epic 1916 journey from Elephant Island to South Georgia in a replica of the 23-foot wooden boat, James Caird. Tune in as Jarvis talks about Sir Ernest Shackleton’s feats in the Antarctic and what made him so famous in the annals of polar history, plus you’ll learn about highlights of our Celebrating Shackleton: Journey from Antarctica to South Georgia Island voyage: • Antarctic Peninsula—the iconic 7th Continent • Weddell Sea—where Shackleton’s Endurance was trapped in ice • Elephant Island—integral to Shackleton’s dramatic rescue • South Georgia —the Galapagos of the South Seas • King Haakon Bay—where Shackleton sought salvation for his crew marooned on Elephant island • Grytviken—Shackleton’s final resting place in one of the most remote cemeteries in the world.
