Marcos Couch was born in Argentina to an American father and an Argentine mother, who met each other at Princeton University.
He studied Philosophy and went on to get his Master’s degree before his passion for the mountains erupted. To Marcos, journeys of thinking and voyages of exploration share many commonalities.
Marcos is an accredited mountain guide (IFMGA) with a love for connecting with people and local cultures. For thirty-five years, his profession has been guiding clients in Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Patagonia, Nepal, India, China, Africa, Greenland, and Antarctica.
Marcos has climbed many mountains in his beloved Patagonia, including Fitz Roy (new route, 3,405 meters), San Lorenzo (3,770 meters), and San Valentin (4,000 meters, the highest in Southern Patagonia). Destiny has even taken him to climb in the Himalayas, Xixabangma (8,070 meters).
Besides mountaineering, he enjoys skiing, biking, windsurfing, kayaking, photography, and teaching History of Mountaineering to future Mountain Guides.
He speaks English, French, Italian, and, of course, Spanish.
