About Russ Nicks
For the past 12 years, Russ has been a captain and wildlife guide on southern Vancouver Island. He has always been passionate about the local wildlife, ecosystems and history and has been active in several conservation groups over the years, including salmon enhancement projects and beach cleanups. Prior to guiding, Russ worked as a firefighter and paramedic in the southern United States before moving back to Canada to join the coast guard marine search and rescue team.
Russ loves adventure and has a knack for finding whales. He is known for his witty commentary and enthusiasm, which is why guests are in for an epic experience!
