About Austin Hart
Austin grew up on a ranch in rural Montana, where early on he developed a passion for hard work and being outside in the mountains. He now lives in Red Lodge, Montana, at the edge of the Beartooth Mountains, where he works as a mountain guide, ski patrol and geologist. Austin has also worked as a mountain guide and ski patrol in Washington and Wyoming and has previous expedition experience in Alaska, Canada, Chile and Africa. As the owner and operator of two businesses, Beartooth Mountain Guides and Beartooth Basin Summer Ski Area, he has engaged with a diverse array of people who find inspiration in outdoor recreation and the landscape.
A fanatic about rocks, Austin holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Geology, but mostly he enjoys learning and teaching about the natural history of the continents. As a field geologist, he conducts ongoing research projects focused on the sedimentary history of Bighorn Basin, Wyoming. He is also a nationally registered EMT and wilderness first responder (W-EMT).
This is Austin’s first year with Quark Expeditions, and he’s really looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead!
