Adventure travel, photography and guiding have been defining passions of Gordon's life. After he received a degree in biochemistry, Gordon eschewed the academic lifestyle and headed out on a four-year trip that took him across Europe, north Africa and finally Asia where he settled down to live for several years.
Upon returning home, Gordon began working as a guide for a travel company that he would eventually own and operate. He took his first trip to Antarctica in the late 90’s and was immediately hooked. Drawn to this region like a compass to magnetic north, he has returned regularly ever since. Gordon's advice to first-time polar travelers is to get outside on deck as much as you can. Our ships are nice and cozy inside but there is always something going on outside even when we are cruising on the open ocean. Gordon loves watching guests dive into chilly ocean waters for the first time. Nothing says polar better than a fresh dip in the Southern Ocean!
