About Gordon Ross
Though he is based on Vancouver Island, Canada, Gordon has roamed far and wide. A professional photographer, writer, avid traveler, adventurer and guide, he has journeyed around the world several times over. Gordon’s interest in photography started in Grade 7 and never stopped. He has traveled to and photographed 80-plus countries and guided in over 50 and continues to lead an active outdoor life, documenting it as he goes.
Gordon has a degree in biochemistry and has studied oceanology and limnology. He has owned and run travel companies, worked as an Olympic photographer, and has been published in the Globe and Mail, Sports Illustrated, Audubon and Financial Times (London), among others. Gordon also teaches and techs digital media and photography at the college level.
His foremost passion, though, is interacting with people, whether it’s a one-on-one discussion or as a fellow adventurer in the outdoors. As such, Gordon is keen to help you get the most out of your Quark Expeditions voyage as a companion, guide and general digital media/photography go-to guy.
Antarctica is Gordon’s favorite wilderness destination. He finds the Polar Regions ethereal and the light fantastic and is keen to share his passion for these regions with you.
