Molly Ledford was born and raised in sunny South Carolina, and she now calls the emerald waters and glaciated mountains of Seward, Alaska home. Molly humbly began her sea kayak guiding career with a summer job in the estuaries of South Carolina while studying for her Vocal Performance degree. After pivoting from the opera world, she has since used her passion for paddling as a catalyst to guide all over the world, from the reefs of Hawaii to the fjords of Norway, the glaciers of New Zealand, and finally the polar regions, beginning in 2021. Molly enjoys the sense of empowerment that comes with helping polar guests push themselves out of their comfort zone to try new things and reach their full potential — hence her strong advocacy for the polar plunge, sea kayaking, and camping excursions. She encourages guests, whenever possible, to spend a moment being still and listening to the polar silence. Happiest when learning and growing, she uses her time off for multi-day expeditions or courses such as Vipassana Meditation, a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, and Wilderness EMT. When not sea kayaking, Molly can be found packrafting one of Alaska’s many rivers, skiing at her local ski hill, or doing yoga and sipping coffee inside on a rainy day.
