Sea Kayak Guide

Born in Mexico and also a Canadian citizen, Santiago is fluent in Spanish, English and French. He owns and operate Kayak Latins du Nord since 2012, a company that promotes water safety trough Paddle Canada courses and offers multi-day guided trips in Canada and internationally. Senior Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer he has certified sea kayak instructors in Inuit communities of the Arctic, in Quebec, B.C. and Ontario. His expertise leading groups of paddlers in remote locations with challenging conditions has taken him to teach in Antarctica, Chile, US, Canada, Mexico and the UK. Santiago became the first Latin-American to be certified as a British Canoe Union (BCU) 5 stars Sea Leader, back in 2014. As an accomplished sea kayaker and polar guide, Santiago gets to paddle the rivers of Quebec; drive zodiacs in South Georgia, watch humpback whales in Baja; navigate among ice and leopard seals in Antarctica and feel the adrenaline of going trough the tide races of the Irish Sea.

Santiago graduated from the National Institute College of Image and Sound Director of Photography program and he works in the camera department for a Montreal media company. He is interested in learning about the indigenous people of the world, surfing, history, geography, languages, music, literature, arts, SUPing and cross-country skiing.
