Two Distinct Styles of Ship
The Arctic is a vast ice-encrusted ocean with a multitude of islands ringing it. The difference in environments requires two distinct styles of ship to explore the region. Our Icebreakers offer itineraries that take you to areas in the Arctic inaccessible to traditional expedition vessels, with aerial sightseeing by onboard helicopters. If you are an active traveler, then choose our Polar Adventure Ships with Zodiac cruising, shore landings and optional adventures: kayaking or camping. These ships have ice-strengthened hulls, and were purpose-built for Arctic cruising.
Choosing between polar opposites can be tough for novice travelers, but here are some examples of Icebreaker and Polar Adventure Ship voyages in the Arctic.
