About Rebecca (Becs) Dryland
Hailing from New Zealand, Becs is an outdoor educator with a passion for adventure and helping others discover and develop. She also has a strong interest in the Polar Regions, kayaking and adventures and has spent many years leading and instructing groups, such as Outward Bound New Zealand, in a variety of outdoor activities, including kayaking, hiking and rock climbing. Becs has spent the past 4 years as an outdoor education tutor at Tai Poutini Polytechnic in Greymouth, New Zealand, training soon-to-be outdoor instructors in a variety of pursuits and outdoor skills. She is also a registered nurse, dairy farmer and wilderness first aid tutor.
Becs enjoys trail running and has been a regular competitor in many mountain runs and ultramarathons in New Zealand, including a long run that spanned the country’s length (1,367 miles/2,200 km). Becs and daughter Moana-Rose live in Hokitika (Paradise), on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island, with their dog, Bess, a few sheep and Goaty Mc Goat Face, the goat.
She feels privileged to have the opportunity to work, paddle and explore in wild and remote Polar Regions with Quark Expeditions.
