Alison Thieffry

Expedition Guide

Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Saint-Louis University in Brussels and a Master’s degree in Geography from Laval University in Québec, Alison has received a multidisciplinary education, giving her the skills needed to work on a wide range of topics such as governance, international cooperation, and environmental conservation. Her interest in the circumpolar world grew stronger as she specialized in the geopolitics of the Arctic, thanks to her thesis on the EU policy in the Arctic. Alison also worked at the European Parliament for the Department of External Affairs and the University of the Azores as a research assistant in Marine Spatial Planning. She has worked as a naturalist guide in the polar regions since 2018. Today, Alison has made Vancouver Island her home, where she is involved in various conservation and education projects, such as beach clean-ups, marine mammal protection, and youth education, sharing her passion for marine wildlife and ecology. Even when she is not working on ships, Alison spends her free time close to the water, either with her snorkel, canoe, or paddle board. In the winter, she trades her wetsuit for her skis, enjoying the slopes of Northern Vancouver Island.
